 SUNDAY

After church we were invited to dinner at the home of our Bishop, Martin and Ilona Kleijweg. Their two daughters were there, Bensa, 12 years old, and Nomie, 7(?). Their son, Mace, age 10,  is at a camp this week. What a lovely afternoon we had with them. Every time we visit in someone's home, we feel very grateful for this opportunity to get to know the good people of The Netherlands.

ZONE CONFERENCES

Tuesday Norma and I shopped for the food for both the Zone Conferences. We are going simple again this time and just having sandwiches, fruit, chips and cookies.

I love going to ZC! The messages are meant for the young Elders and Sisters but I always get spiritually recharged and come away with things to improve. My take-aways this tie are to study DC 4 in depth and to identify the debris in my life that prevents me from coming closer to the Savior.

The afternoon of each conference was spent doing role plays of how to be more effective at street contacting and giving the Restoration in 60 seconds. It was so inspiring to see the Elders and Sisters practicing these skills.

FRIDAY

On the way to the Office this morning, we took a few minutes to admire the many, many boats here in Gouda this weekend to celebrate the 750 year since Gouda became a city.
Look at the unique mosaic tile bench

We were able to go to the temple with the VandeWal's and the Black's. Tom and Cindy Black have been here since April serving as Family History missionaries working in the National Archives scanning documents. They also have a calling in the ward working with the Young Adults. We enjoy all these wonderful people and are grateful to call them friends.

Afterwards we went to dinner at Simonis, recommended by Pres Kleijweg. It is right on the waterfront and served delicious fish and chips.

SATURDAY

We returned to the Boat Show with the VandeWal's and spent the afternoon admiring the old boats, talking with the people, enjoying entertainment and eating lots of street food. The smoked salmon sandwiches were amazing as were the Oiliebolles and Kaaswaffels.

Oiliebollen is just what it sounds like...a yummy little ball of deep-fried dough with raisins. The apple beignet was delicious as well.
