SUNDAY The Utrecht Ward has a few new people who have recently moved in. Jackson and Hannah Murdoch have moved from the US and will be here for the foreseeable future. A new brother from Uganda came for the first time today. We hope to get to know him soon. And the new couple from South Africa, Lache (pronounced LaShay) and her husband. She is taking the missionary lessons. Our little ward continues to grow! Through Zoom, we were able to watch Mason Zarges speak in his home ward in Wheatland, CA. He was just released a few days ago. It is with mixed emotions we see our missionaries go home. We will miss him, but know he will go on and serve the Lord wherever he lives. Next stop BYU 😁 MONDAY It was so good to meet the parents of one of dear missionaries! Hannah Hammer was just released last week and her parents came to pick her up. They stopped by the office today for a short visit. Doug, Marcia, Hannah, James and Mamie Hammer, Gerrit and Norma VandeWal Even though we were not ac...

SUNDAY Since we have been in The Netherlands, we have attended a Dutch-speaking ward. It has been wonderful and we have met many good friends. The translator, Andries Meirijnk, is excellent so I can understand what the speakers are saying and love hearing their thoughts and insights. During the sacrament, I have tried to think of the exact wording of the Sacramental Prayers. Today, the only word I could think of was remember . I thought of some of the things I want to remember as I covenant to Always Remember Him:                1. Remember that He loves me               2. Remember His teachings               3. Remember His suffering               4.  Remember His sacrifice               5. Remember to Trust           ...

SUNDAY This afternoon, we spent some time studying from the Come, Follow Me lesson this week, Matthew 8:23-27 and Mark 4:35-41. There is so much good information from a myriad of sources. The following is just a few thoughts about  Calming the Storm in our own lives. Why are ye so a fearful ? “…decreased fear and increased faith will follow” as we “begin anew truly to hear, hearken to, and heed the words of the Savior.” (Russel M Nelson, Go Forth With Faith, GC, Apr 2020) How is it that ye have no b faith ? Am I able to keep my faith in Jesus Christ even when what I hope for does not happen? Even when the rain continues to come down, or a loved one is not healed?  What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him? I need to ask myself this same question that the disciples of old asked; Who is this Jesus? Is He really able to calm the storms in my heart? I know that He can calm the storm, but do I stay faithful even when He doesn’t do it in...

SUNDAY It was our Ward Conference today. The Bishop, Martin Kleijweg, and our Stake President, Marvin Bijkerk both spoke in Sacrament meeting and gave us good counsel. Alja (our friend and RS President) had arranged for several people to bring soup and sandwiches for after meetings. The Stake is geographically large and the Stake visitors had an early start today. She is so thoughtful and aware of others in providing a nice meal for everyone. After lunch was the baptism of Nomi Kleijweg, daughter of the Bishop. There were about 80 people, family and friends of the Kleijweg's, in attendance. It was a wonderful outpouring of support and love for them.  The primary children and the Elders sang a lively version of The Wise Man and The Foolish Man Elders Eldon McClure and Erik Palmer Doug, Marcia, Nomi, Martin and Ilona Kleijweg MONDAY As we arrived home from the office about 17:45, Doug received a text from Jan Oostveen. They had spoken yesterday at church and Jan...
