SUNDAY President and Sister Watson attended the Utrecht Ward today. Sister Watson's sister Simone was with them. She is a lovely woman. The Wolter's attended again. They are a less-active family who are just beginning to come back to church. Another investigator was also there. He is on date for baptism in August. Elders Mahe and Maxfield have been busy working with the members and others interested in the gospel. It's good to see how the ward members are welcoming them all in. We are fasting again today in hopes that we can be directed to find a solution to the Driver License issue we are having here. The system for the missionaries to obtain a Driver License is no longer working since April. So many of our missionaries are no longer able to drive. It mostly affects those who have been in the country more than 185 days since their Registration, which means a lot of the leadership, ie Zone Leaders and Sister Training Leaders. Thanks to Zoom, we were able to watch Pre...

SUNDAY We had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with Alja and Henk Schuur. The VandeWal's were also invited along with Rick and Guerte Harskamp.  It was a lovely afternoon getting better acquainted with these fine people. They are both strong in the gospel but none of their children have stayed active in the church. They recognize that everyone has a choice and they continue to have a close relationship with each of their children. Guerte is a counselor to Alja in RS and Rick is the ward clerk. Henk is in the bishopric. They were able to give us direction regarding who would appreciate a visit from us. This will help us serve better in the ward. MONDAY We took Elders Mayfield and Mahe to dinner tonight at The Broadway, a nice restaurant in Utrecht where Svoord, a member of our ward is a chef. It was good to get to know them both better and at the same time watch them enjoy some delicious steaks. (left) Elder Matt Maxfield, Doug, Elder Vilai Mahe (right) same group plus ...

SUNDAY At church today we met the father of our Ukrainian friend and refugee, Mariia. Her mom arrived a couple weeks ago from Germany and her dad arrived yesterday. They are so happy to be back together as a family. They have been separated since Russia attacked Ukraine in February. Mariia's daughters have been here with her. They came with only two suitcases between the three of them. We feel blessed to have been invited to go to the temple with them on Friday. After church we drove Elder Olive to the Mission Home for his departing interview with President Watson. It has been an interesting five days as we've had Elder Olive with us. Doug has been really good with him as he has needed prompting for everything. My appreciation for his companions and especially for his last companion have increased. Missions have hard days but to have a companion that won't work or comply with the mission standards would really wear you down. MONDAY Today started early! We got up at...

SUNDAY      Our little chapel was filled today! We had about 60 people from BYU who are on a month-long study abroad visited today. 45 are students, the others are professors and their families. They are studying Public Health and looking at the life style and culture of The Netherlands and other places in Europe. They also get to see many of the tourist spots and get a feel for the countries they visit. I had a sweet moment during the sacrament today. The young men passing the sacrament were the visitors. I was playing the piano today so when the young man finished passing to the bishopric and stake visitors, he walked toward me. We made eye contact for just a brief moment. I saw a smile in his eyes and right then I knew he was representing the Savior and Jesus Christ was offering me His  Atonement. It was such a brief moment but the wonderful feeing has lingered with me. I know the Atonement of Jesus Christ is for all who have ever lived or wi...
