SUNDAY We went to the Laveen Ward today with Charles. He was able to meet the Missionaries there along with a member of the bishopric, Jake Bell, (son of Elder and Sister Bell in the Mission Office). The Thorson's. Jones', and Kaufman's are all in this ward. Plenty of friends for Charles and Melony. We hope they will continue to come, see and stay. The High Council speaker today in the Tempe ward was David Erickson (formerly in the Northpark YSA ward in San Bernardino). It was so good to see him and meet his wife and children. It's always so good to see someone after several years and, like the sons of Mosiah, it adds more to your joy to find they are "still [your] brethren in the Lord..." (see Alma 17:2) Matt and Mary had us over for dinner again. (We sure hope they don't get tired of having us!) It has been so nice to see them often and count it as one of the many blessings of serving in Tempe. The New Convert Devotional (NCD) is held once each month. T...

SUNDAY The Elders called this morning and asked us to pick up George for church. He is a pleasant guy with a lot of responsibility. He is a single dad, has two sons ages 2 and 3 and works full-time. He lives with his sister who helps with the kids. He thanked us for picking him up for church and said "honestly, the reason I wanted to get a ride with someone is so I couldn't leave early." It was good to get to know him a little. The Miranda's were at church again. This was the first time they have been on a RS/EQ day. Elder Glauser said Raul made some good comments in Priesthood meeting and even volunteered to store turkeys in his freezer. Noemi signed up to help with the food boxes the ward is doing for Thanksgiving and Victoria agreed to be part of the Primary Program on Dec 19. They are loving the association with the members of the ward.  It is so special to see the spirit working in their life. It is such a treat to have Matt and Mary live so close! We went to th...

SUNDAY After church today we met with Brother Brent Welker and his son Bruce. Sister Welker passed away a few years ago after a debilitating illness. The Welker's had two biological children and adopted three others, siblings to each other and all with special needs. Those three still live with Br Welker. Bruce is 28 years old, has Downs Syndrome and Autism and is non-verbal. Br Welker retired a few years early to care for his wife and now has the sole responsibility of the 'kids'. He has a great attitude and is an example of Christ-like love. It was so nice to go to Aaron and Heather Hales' house for dinner. Riley ad Kathy Clark (Heather's dad) were in town visiting and it was an added treat to see them after many years. MONDAY We began making plans and a schedule for the Giving Machines. We are excited to be part of this initiative that benefits so many people and communities, locally and internationally. Missionaries from the Gilbert Mission and the Tempe Missio...
